23-05-12 / Sanath Wijewardene - A Thank you to our Lankan Community

Hi Aunty Anoma, Sanath Mapa and Hemantha Uncle
Could you please forward the message to your distribution lists.
We would like to take this oppurtunity to express our heart felt gratitute to the Lankan community for the support and kindness you've shown since the passing of our father, Sanath Wijewardene.
Firstly we would like to thank the Venerable Monks at the Sri Lankan Sinhalese Buddhist Temple for making themselves available for the funeral on Friday 18th May, Dhamma Sermon on Saturday 19th May and Alms Giving on Sunday 20th May.  It was especially nice to see Sister Kaarunika and Sister Upeka from the nuns monastery at the funeral service on Friday.
Thank you for all those who brought food and drinks to our homes, as well as the temple  to ensure that no one went away hungry. A special thank you to the parents of students at the Sinhala School for taking care of the  "Mala Batha" on Friday.
Thank you for helping in many ways, whether it was a small prayer, a kind word, or things like donating chairs or cleaning up afterwards. Thank you for the flowers, cards and monetary donations. Thank you for taking the time to visit us at our home, at the temple and at the funeral parlour. Every little thing that was done to make this last week and a half more bearable for us, was very much appreciated.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to invite you to have a read of a story or two written by our father that will hopefully bring a smile to your face :o)
If you have a spare moment, just call or drop in to say hello.

09/0/2012 - Commencement of Classes-Term II 2012

Dear Parents,

Please note that this Sunday (13th of May) we commence classes of PSS at 2.00pm as usual. As Dhamma School is not going to be held this Sunday (as per the last e-mail received from the Coordinator), Sinhala School classess are going to be conducted till 5.00pm. The reasons for this extended class time is missing many classes recently due to other celebrations and the threshold level that we have to meet in terms of number of hours for the government grant.

So, the classes of PSS are planned for this Sunday as follows.

2.00pm-3.40pm Session 1
3.40pm-4.00pm Break
4.00pm-5.00pm Session 2

As communicated earlier please ask students to bring home work and submissions for wall paper (if any) to the class this Sunday.

We hope to see you!

Thank you.

Thank You Note and Commencement of Term II Classes

Dear Parents,

I take this opportunity to thank all the parents who brought the kids for the items presented by PSS at the Avurudu Rangana Concert. It is a pleasure as we could present both items (Hela Kula Sirithai and Chuck Gudu Gudu) on the themes relevant to the context of Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The kids performed very well, the parents' support was enormous, received good comments from the audience and was a pleasing experience to the teachers. Once again Nirosha De Silva, Chamila Wijeratne and Dilmi Jayathilake provided their assistance by choreographing the items. So I personally thank them and expect their continuous support for future endeavours too.

In the meantime, please note that we start the School for term II on the 13th of May. Even though our plan was to start on the 29th of April, we had to change the date to the 13th as the senior students attend Buddha's Birthday Programme representing Dhamma School on the 29th and have Vesak Celebrations at the temple during the following week end. Please encourage your children to do their home work and bring the work they have done for the wall paper as instructed by the teachers on the last day of Term I when they are back to School.

Thank you.
