Thank You Note for the Support Provided towards Annual Prize Giving

Dear Parents,

It is with pleasure, I thank all the parents who provided a wonderful support towards PSS Prize Giving held yesterday. Your attendance for the event, providing food and drinks, providing financial sponsorships, assisting teachers and the committee in many ways is much appreciated.

On the top of all these, thank you for rehearsing your child/ren to perform at the event and bringing them for practices which facilitated teachers to run the programme in a well timely and standard manner.

Also, please note that I received an appreciation e-mail from Ms Anoma Gunawardena who is the Head of Academic Board of PSS recognizing the contribution and committment of teachers as well as the parents towards the success of the event. Her e-mail emphasizes how talented your children are. So, let me convey her appreciation and wishes too.

Thank you.

Dear All,

We have good news on how You can help the Temple to raise funds, without much effort!

As you were informed a few weeks back, (and you would have seen the Representatives from the Banks at the Food Fair in April,) SLSBS is now registered with the Mortgage Introducer Program of ANZ, East Vic Park Branch and NAB, Armadale Branch.

(So, if you are buying a house, or an investment property, and if you get a loan from either of those two branches, that would bring in a one off income to the temple which will be paid by the Bank,, not affecting you or your loan.  All you have to do is tell the respective bank that you have been referred by the Temple and that's all.  You are not responsible for anything other than your payment of the loan and it doesn't affect the temple either.) Please read in Sinhala...

Dear all,
It is that time of the year again!
The team that has been bringing you the beautiful Wesak Lanterns for the past five years has been busily working behind the scenes for the past three months to bring you another incredible creation - one that has never been seen in Western Australia!

This year, the team consisting of about 70 volunteers is proud to present the Perth Wesak Pandal depicting the life events of Lord Buddha. The magnificent structure is made of all hand drawn paintings and is illuminated by over 4500 flashing colour lights.

Along with the team involved, I am proud to invite you and your family to this special occasion. This will be a fun and vibrant way for your children to learn about Sri Lankan Buddhist culture.

The opening is scheduled for:
WHEN: Saturday, 25 May 2013 at 6.30pm
WHERE: Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple
(78 Austin Av, Kenwick)

The ideal location to view this is from the grass area between the 'in' and 'out' driveway.
The appearance of the pandal at the initial illumination is somewhat different to the other times. Similar to the opening of fireworks, if you miss the opening there won't be an opportunity to witness the opening of WAs first Wesak Pandal again.

This display is partially funded by the Office of Multicultural Interests, Department of Local Governments.

Thank you,
Chandradasa Hewage

NOTE: Please note that the team behind the Pandal is not responsible for matters such as delays to the official opening times or other obstructions to the view.

Resuming Classes for Term IV and the Term Plan

Dear Parents,

Hope every one had a good time with your kids during their school break!

With the beginning of May, PSS is approaching it's academic and financial year end soon (30th of June).

So, we resume classes for the 4th term of 2012/2013 on coming Sunday (5th of May). This term goes until 30th of June and I have attached the term plan for your information. Classes will be held during regular time.

On the 9th of June, the School Committee after consulting teachers has decided to hold annual prize giving. As we had our children concert "Muthu Keta Vessa" recently, it was decided that there will be no dancing items or drama this time to focus on academic work. Teachers are planning to have two group songs in addition to national anthems and the welcome song. As in the past winning students will present their poems/speeches. Your maximum support is expected as always. More information about the prize giving will be provided soon.

Please send previous term activity books along with your children to complete pending work if any.

See you all on Sunday!

Thank you.

Dear Parents

The following items are needed for the Short-eats stall at the Food

The SLSBS needs nearly $5,000/- a month to pay the mortgages [3],

raise funds to put up a new building with proper class rooms for our
Dhamma School and Sinhala School children, a dana hall and library.
